Does The Nintendo Dsi And A Typical Laptop Probably Take The Same Kind Of Sd Card?

I just got a Nintendo DSi and it has a slot for an SD card to hold music and pictures. I need to buy the SD card, though, however, my only way of downloading stuff to it would be through my laptop computer. The length of the slot that is supposedly for an SD card on the laptop looks about the same length as the one on the Nintendo DSi. Do they likely both take the same cards?

yes, SD cards are all a standard (physical) size
my netbook has an SD slot. so do many of my friends’ laptops.
but even if you don’t have an SD slot, you can get a USB card reader for about $8 at Wal-Mart. just pop the card in that, put the reader in any computer’s USB port, and then you can drag & drop files just like it was an SD port

There are 3 standardised SD cards, from largest to smallest: SD, MiniSD, and Micro SD.
So, yes, if you computer can support one of the above, and your Nintendo DSi has the same sized slot, they would both support it.
However, Micro and Mini SDs are similar in size, so make sure the slots are exactly equal in size, otherwise you’ll get a card that won’t work in one or the other.
If you do have different slots, check a computer shop or an online shop for a USB SD adapter.

yes they do but i don’t recommend getting a sd card that is over 2 gigs because i put a 4gig one in and it didn’t read it. and i also don’t recommend using a micro sd in a sd adapter because it only reads it once and a while, if u can then avoid using SDHC
